School will be starting soon; summer is almost over; where did the time go?
The good news is it's time to start back quilting. If you're like me and could sometimes use a little inspiration, there are several quilt shows coming up. The first one is a biggy. It's the Michigan Quilt Network show. The MQN is putting on their 20th Annual show September 16th from 10-8 and the 17th from 10-6. It will be located at The Summit at Capital Centre in Lansing, Michigan. Then in October, the Keepers of Quilting Traditions Quilt show is on October 1st from 10-7 and the 2nd from 10-5. This show will be located at the First United Methodist Church at 10016 E. Newburg Rd., Durand, MI. After that, the First United Methodist Church in Dearborn located at 22124 Garrison Dearborn, MI will host a show on October 8th from 10-5 and on the 9th from 10-4. Now, the last show I want to tell you about that I go to is the Quilt Exhibit and Craft Show at the First Methodist Church 22331 Woodward Ave., Ferndale, MI 48220. This show is Friday October 22nd from 10-4 and Saturday the 23rd from 10-4. If you love linens you will find this show fun.
I love camping, so I am still working on a retreat at Algonac State Park in October. In my dreams, there would be a beautiful patchwork sleeping bag out of reproduction fabric. In reality, it is a reproduction quilt and a down bed; there is no point in roughing it. This might just turn out to be a pampered weekend. I am planning this for the third weekend in October. It will be a mystery quilt weekend with a quilt kit that is very special. There will be gifts and demos of special little quilting/sewing tips that might come in handy. The food will also be included. This weekend is a first come first serve so please book your sight and call for spot. We will have a great time. The cost is $230.00 for your quilt kit and food and also includes some special extras that are a mystery. I would really like to do this each year and start a quilt club that travels around the state. We could all decorate our campers special. There is a group of fly fisher women called, "The Sisters on the Fly". Take a look on the net and you will get the idea. I would like to start the traveling quilters. Let me know what you think. I have been dreaming about this for a while.
I am also scheduling day retreats. If you have a few friends and would like to take a day to make a quilt contact me (Jodi) @ 1-810-420-0105 or e-mail me @ Joan@quiltingdreams.comcastbiz.net and we can set up a wonderful day for you and your friends. I can accommodate 6-20 guests.
Don't forget that your quilts can be quilted at Quilting Dreams. The price is 1.5 cents per inch. This is an example of prices:
This is for overall quilting or a pantogram. You can still pick the pattern. For special quilting the cost is more depending on the request. This is a good time to get those quilts quilted. The wait is about 2-3 weeks now.
The new September block of the month (BOM) is ready for pick up. The block can be picked up any time starting September 1st. If you would like to work on your block at the shop, please contact me and we can arrange something. Sometimes it helps to set the time aside away from home. If you need help or just want to get out of the house call me!
